Description: An erect shrub, 3–4 ft. high; branches ternate; branchlets strict, obliquely erect; leaves simple, subsessile, 3–5 fascicled on small cushions, sessile on the branches, oblong-spathulate, spathulate or obovate-spathulate, more rarely obcordate, 3.5–8 lin. long, 1.5–3.333 lin. broad, undulate, glabrous; flowers several, fascicled on a terminal cushion; calyx tubular-campanulate, 4 lin. long, irregularly 3–4-lobed and split down one or both sides, 5-cuspidate, prominently ribbed, pilose or subglabrous; corolla salmon-coloured; tube narrowly funnel-shaped, 0.75 in. long, cylindric portion equalling the calyx, glabrous outside, slightly pilose within below the insertion of the stamens; lobes orbicular, 5 lin. in diam., crenulate; stamens inserted 4 lin. above base of corolla-tube; filaments 4 lin. long; anthers 4 lin. long, beaked above; ovary 1.5 lin. long; capsule oblong, shortly beaked, 3.75 in. long, 5 lin. broad. Erect shrub 1–2(4) m tall with ternate spiniform branches. Young branchlets greyish, at first with dense pubescence, with age glabrescent to glabrous. Leaves 7–20 x 2–4 mm, simple, solitary or clustered up to 10 on each cushion, spatulate to spathulate-oblong, rounded or slightly emarginate, rarely acute at the apex, tapering at the base, gland dotted, margins undulate, glabrous; sessile or shortly petiolate. Flowers usually terminal, rarely on lateral cushions, solitary or fascicled; pedicels 1–3 mm long. Calyx 5–8 mm long, irregularly 5-lobed; lobes more or less cuspidate, sometimes with prominent ribs, hairy to subglabrous, Corolla white, whitish-pink or pink; tube c. 17 mm long, funnel-shaped, lower part cylindric and enclosed in the calyx, glabrous outside, hairy inside below the insertion of the stamens; lobes c. 10 mm, in diam., subcircular crenulate, spreading. Stamens adnate to the corolla tube, and up to 5–8 mm from the base; filament 8–10 mm long; anthers c. 4 mm long, apiculate. Ovary 2–4 mm long. Capsule 6–9 x 1–1.4 cm, long, beaked. Seeds not seen.
