Status: Near-endemic
Description: Densely and shortly pubescent; stems 6–10 in. long, stout, branched; internodes mostly 0.25– 0.5 in. long, some up to 1.25 in. long; leaves 0.333 to 0.5 in. in diam., round-ovate, rather thick, nearly sessile; flowers solitary, scattered, not clustered towards the ends of the branches; pedicels 0– 0.2 in. long; bracteoles 2, 0.25 in. long, linear-oblong, obtuse; calyx nearly 0.25 in. long; lobes 5, oblong to linear, hardly acute, pubescent and with some gland-headed hairs; corolla 0.667– 0.75 in. long, white (Bolus); one anther-cell much below the other, with a long clavate tail; pollen ellipsoid, with 2 stopples and 2 longitudinal rows of tubercles on either side of each stopple; capsule 0.333 in. long, stalk rather thick, slightly puberulous at the tip, 2-seeded; seeds discoid, margined, smooth. Much-branched shrub, often compact and rounded, 0.3-0.6 x up to 0.65 m. Branches thick, appearing knobbly or jointed from remains of leaf bases at nodes, velvety or shortly tomentose, sometimes shaggy. Leaves sessile or petiolate, crowded, shortly and densely hairy, sometimes with longer hairs intermixed, suborbicular, ovate, obovate or elliptic, 8-15 mm long, more or less thick in texture; petiole up to 10 mm long. Bracts densely pubescent, up to 20 mm long. Bracteoles densely pubescent, ± 7 mm long. Calyx shortly and densely hairy, sometimes with additional long hairs, lobes 4-8 mm long, lengthening in fruit. Corolla \l-23 mm long, magenta, deep mauve or white/blue. Capsule ± 12 mm long. Seeds round and plump, 3.0 x 3.5 mm, dusty brown, glaucous.
