Description: Quite glabrous, glaucous; stems filiform, straight, erecto-patent or diffuse; radical leaves rosulate, obovate, spathulate, linear, obtuse; cauline remote, narrow-linear; umbellules 3–5 flowered; pedicels longer than the calyx; stamens 5; seeds shining, small, very minutely reticulated. Root slender. Stems 1–6 inches long, yellow-green. Radical leaves 2–8 lines long, 0.333–1 line wide, somewhat fleshy, one-nerved; cauline whorled, unequal. Pedicels capillary, 3–6 lines long. Sepals oval, membranous, white, with a green nerve, 1 line long. Capsule equalling the calyx. Seeds brown, 3-angled-pyriform. (from JSTOR Global Plants website / Flora Capensis)

Glaucous ephemeral 2–12(–17) cm high, often very inconspicuous. Basal leaves often soon withering. Stems erect or ascending, slender, brownish. Stem-leaves whorled, linear, up to 5–18 mm long. Inflorescences terminal and axillary, umbel-like, 1–4-flowered. Pedicels 5–15 mm long. Sepals 1–3 mm long, white. Stamens (3–)5, rarely 10. Capsule 3-valved. It is an annual herb producing a thin, erect stem up to about 20 centimeters tall. The narrow, waxy leaves are up to 1.5 centimeters long, linear in shape, and arranged in whorls around the stem.
